We sent up a tethered test approximately 2,400 ft above Mantorville, MN. Here’s some video and more photos.
So we ran a tethered test this weekend and I wanted to get a couple cool shots up sooner than later. We’ve got plenty of photos and 2 hours of video to share with you soon… probably Monday. But for now, here’s a couple cool shots, pulled from one of the videos, showing the distance we could see on our lovely day outdoors.
Here you can clearly see both Byron, MN and Rochester, MN. Byron is approximately 6 miles away and Rochester around 25 miles. Click to see the image larger.
In this shot you can see all of Kasson and the road over to Mantorville. Never got a clear view of Mantoville, but Kasson is approximately 4 miles from where we were. Again, click to see this larger.
This weekend we’ll be performing the first test run of the Yavin IV project. It will be conducted outside of the lovely Mantoville, MN sometime in the afternoon. We’ll be collecting video for sure, maybe photos. Anything captured will be posted back here probably on Sunday.
Yavin IV is a Low Orbit space exploration experiment operated by Minneapolis interactive design agency Sevnthsin. We will be testing over the next month and launching sometime late summer in hopes of capturing amazing imagery from the upper most regions of Earth’s atmosphere (or at least as high a level as our little weather balloon will reach).
Imagery on loan from Robert Harrison’s Icarus III project out of the UK.
